Kin: Testing Your App Before Launch
Kin app
This article applies to the Kin app (now part of Reactiv). If your app was built with Reactiv, see the Reactiv support docs instead.
Before your app goes to the stores, the Kin team shares test builds so your team can try it on real devices.
Getting invited
Send the Kin team the email address of each tester:
- iOS: the tester's Apple ID email. Testers install builds through Apple's TestFlight app.
- Android: the tester's Google Play email. Testers install builds through Firebase App Tester.
Each tester receives an email invitation with instructions to install the test app.
Before each test session
Update to the latest build in TestFlight or App Tester, so you're testing the newest version.
What to check
A quick pass through the main shopper flows:
- Onboarding: shown once after install, with Sign in, Create account and Continue as guest. Deleting and reinstalling the app shows onboarding again.
- Notification prompt: on iOS and Android 13+, shoppers are asked to turn on notifications after they sign in or continue as guest. Android 12 and earlier don't show this prompt because notifications are on by default.
- Tabs: For You shows your brand content, and Shop shows your store.
- Search: search for a product and open a result.
- Cart: add items from a product page and check that the cart icon badge shows the right count. Edit quantities and remove items in the cart sheet.
- Checkout: start checkout from a product page or the cart. Checkout opens right away. If the checkout page sends the shopper to sign in, the app shows its own sign-in screen and then returns to checkout.
- More menu: open the menu icon and check your menu sections and links.
Report anything unexpected to your Kin onboarding contact, or email support@reactiv.ai.
