Kin: Understanding Your Analytics Dashboard

Kin app

This article applies to the Kin app (now part of Reactiv). If your app was built with Reactiv, see the Reactiv support docs instead.

The Analytics tab in the Kin dashboard shows how your app is performing. This article explains what each metric means and when the numbers update.

When data updates

  • Metrics, including push notification deliveries and taps, are calculated once a day, early in the morning (UTC). The dashboard normally shows data up to the previous day.
  • Daily figures follow your store's time zone.
  • Some iOS devices batch their activity before sending it, so the most recent day's numbers can shift slightly.
  • Data starts from your app's launch date.

If a day of data looks missing, email support@reactiv.ai. It can be recalculated.

Daily metrics

Daily metrics can be added up across any date range. App sessions, new users, login, push opt-in, app sales, and app orders can be viewed for iOS and Android. Store-wide sales and orders are your whole Shopify store.

Rates

  • Login rate = logged-in sessions ÷ app sessions.
  • Push opt-in rate = push-enabled sessions ÷ app sessions.
  • Push tap rate = push taps ÷ push deliveries.

Login and opt-in rates are based on sessions, not unique users.

Unique app users

Unique users can't be added up across days, because the same shopper may use the app on several days. Unique app users are therefore only shown for fixed windows of 1 day, 7 days and 30 days, for each platform.

Lifetime metrics

Totals since your app launched:

  • App users
  • App orders
  • App sales
  • App purchasers: shoppers who placed at least one order in the app.
  • App repeat purchasers: shoppers who placed more than one order in the app.

Push notification results

Each push notification campaign shows deliveries, taps and attributed sales. Sales are attributed to a notification for 7 days after it's sent, so a campaign's results are finalized after a week. Expect a campaign's revenue to keep growing during that time.

Abandoned cart notifications have their own daily deliveries, taps and attributed sales.

See Order & Push Attribution for how orders are linked to the app and to notifications.

Content engagement

Daily impressions and taps are reported for your Highlights, Carousel items and Links. See For You Feed Content.

What counts as a session

The app records when a shopper brings it to the foreground and when they leave. The dashboard counts a session when it is the first event for that device, or when at least 30 minutes have passed since that device's previous event.

Push notification sessions and universal link sessions count only when the app was opened from a cold start. Switching back to an app that was already open does not add another one.

Each session records how it started:

  • A normal open.
  • A push notification.
  • A deep link.
  • A universal link.
