Kin: Cookie Consent & App Tracking Transparency
Kin app
This article applies to the Kin app (now part of Reactiv). If your app was built with Reactiv, see the Reactiv support docs instead.
On iOS, apps must ask permission before tracking shoppers across other companies' apps and websites. This is Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt. Your website, shown inside the app, usually has its own cookie consent banner. The Kin app connects the two so shoppers only answer once.
How it works
- The shopper answers the iOS tracking prompt: Allow or Ask App Not to Track.
- The app applies that choice to your cookie consent platform on your website pages inside the app.
- Shoppers don't see your website's cookie banner again in the app.
You decide which cookie categories are turned on for each answer:
- Allow: usually all categories.
- Ask App Not to Track: essential cookies, plus any categories you choose. Third-party advertising, targeting and social cookies should be off.
Essential (required or strictly necessary) cookies are always on.
Example settings for "Ask App Not to Track":
| Category | Setting |
|---|---|
| Essential / necessary | On |
| Analytics / performance | On |
| Advertising / marketing | Off |
| Targeting | Off |
| Social media | Off |
| Sale or sharing of information | Off |
